I’m not sure I understand your question here. It’s necessary to include the year in your in-text citations in author-date citation style—or use “n.d.” if no date can be determined for a particular source. Hopefully that answers your question, but let me know if you meant something else.

Thank you so much for all this information. I have a quick question regarding the parentheses citation style: is it possible to keep using it with the bibliography list and omitting the year in the citation (with just the last name of the author)?

Hi Anthony,

No, there’s no need for numbering in your reference list, or any indication of how often each source is used.

Thanks for all the information. I would like to know, in regards to my reference list, should I number it to display how often I used it in the paper? I saw that the reference list image that you used didn’t have numbers.
